Houston, Blue Bonnet and the Test

Alright the moment of truth has come. In a few minutes I will leave to find out if I am a highly qualified Texas educator. My studying has gone well minus the brief but devastating detour when I thought the state flower of Texas was the Blue Bell. (For those who aren't quite up on your TX trivia it is the Blue Bonnet...Blue Bell is a brand of ice cream, many of us Texans enjoy.)
Other interesting Texas facts:
* Sam Houston (Oh, Sammy) had three wives, the city of Houston named after him, was a advocate for Indians and was a through and through Texas Man. (For more information on Sam Houston, give me a call, I've got tons.) Also he has a 50 foot statue of himself outside of Houson. I know I am close to seeing my friends Jake and Erin when I see good ol' Sam!
* The Texas state animal is an Armadillo (one tradition of Texas which my mom and Doug have fully embrassed.)
*Finally, Texas was once a part of Mexico, gained its independence became a part of the Union (at the helm of good ol' Sam) and then succeeded to the confederacy (against Sam's wishes). Texas then became a part of the Union again...the moral of that story is that we should always listen to Sam.
Hopefully my newfound Texas State history skills will earn me at least an 80% on my test today. Well...keep up that praying...I really need it! I'll let you know how it went!

Yahoo for Texas! That's awesome that you put Blue-Bell.... I always thought it did represent something in TX..... the statue of Sam sort of reminds me of the This is The Place Monument....
Let us know when you find out test results!
How did your test go? Are you ready for the challenge of teaching children who have never learned how to properly speak English? Is Daisy ready to teach them the finer points of Portugese singing? Your Utah family is dying to find out!
WWSD. I agree totally. We should embrace the logic that is Sam. Rachael and I have decided to name our first child Sam in order to fully embrace this doctrine. Only in TX would someone named Sam Houston gain so much political clout by having three wives. Praise be to the BBQ.
They should change the flower's name to Blue Bell. It would be easier to remember the state flower if it was named after the best icecream in Texas right? Easy mistake Brandy! I would have made it too! We are enjoying your blog! Tell Daisy to sing in Portugese...we will understand her one day!
