And the Yankees Came to Town...

Friday Night- Yanks Win! (8-7)The Duke and I watched the game from our couch. The game was fairly close at the end, but my boys secured Mr. Torre his 999th win as a Major league coach. Daisy got a little excited toward the end and would only answer to the name El Duke the rest of the evening. If she didn't believe in sleeping for 18-20 hrs a day she would make a mighty fine pitcher for the Yanks.
Saturday- Yanks Win! (6-1) Joe Torre’s 1000th win! Way to Go Joe! I went with the people formerly known as my mom and step dad. They will herein be referred to as the Traitors. My mom, an avid Yankee fan from way back, brought a Texas Rangers jersey to the game. However, she redeemed herself on this chilly Texas night by turning the jersey inside out before putting it on to get warm. Doug offered to take of the jersey…only to reveal a Texas Rangers t-shirt, officially securing his traitorhood. Now, I am all for rooting for the Rangers…if and only if, they are not playing the Yankees and if their winning does not negatively affect the Yankees standings. It was a wonderful night. I was able to see Johnny Damon play live for the first time since realizing that salvation lies with the Yankees. It was awesome!

Sunday- Yanks Win! (8-5) J.T.’s 1001st win! I decided to test one of my newfound friendships and went with my friend Kim to the game. Now Kim is a diehard Ranger fan..who has a great admiration for Hank Blalock. She has recently submitted her application to officially become one of “Hank’s Homees.” Though there was some trash talk, it was relatively polite..considering our fervor for opposing teams. The highlight of this game was when my boy, Mariano Rivera, came out to pitch in the 8th inning. I was rather annoyed by the girlish screams all around me..until I realized that the person screaming was me!

Stay tuned for the next installment of the Yankees rock the Rangers on their home turf in July!
